This month has gone very differently from what we had originally planned, but lots of exciting things have happened: from visiting friends in Australia and basking in the sun, to hiking up a (small) mountain near Tokyo, enjoying some fall leaves.

Australia

When we lived in Europe, the idea of traveling as far as Australia seemed really daunting, but since moving to Japan, we always knew we wanted to visit it, at some point… it is still not the shortest flight (9 hours from Tokyo to Brisbane), but much more doable. 

Plus, we had the perfect reason to go: our friends Ken and Mary were renewing their wedding wows! When they invited us to the ceremony, we were beyond excited.
